Westport Senior Ladies travelled to Dangan today to play University of Galway. This was their 3rd trip away to UG this year, and with 2 tough losses pushed to the back of their minds, they knew it would be a tough physical and mental battle. 

The ladies in blue started as they meant to go on, with Kayla Conway being the first to get on the scoreboard after flying down the wing, about 15minutes in to the game. 0-5 to Westport at half time. 

It was the 2nd half before UG were able to get through the blue wall of defence, and they only managed to do it once successfully for the entirety of the game. 

After some great work in attack, Fiona Nic Ruairí got close enough to the line to pick from the back of a ruck and soar over. Then just minutes later, Saoirse Kelly intercepted a UG pass at the halfway mark to make her way down the pitch and over the line. In the last play of the match, Kayla Conway got another break down the wing, to seal the deal.

An amazing display in both defence and attack from Westport - all credit to everyone involved, and thank you to those who travelled. Next fixture will be the Connacht Cup Semi Final, details tbc.
