Westports u16s travelled to Carrick on Shannon for the first time, played a tough opposition and came away with a win.
The Westport lads showed serious intent from the kick off, they put Carrick under serious pressure with excellent positional play, spreading the ball wide at pace from the breakdown until the gaps appeared. Anselme Bocquet scored the first try in the corner.
The second try came again out wide after Westport piled the pressure on, retaining the ball well, spreading the ball wide with Dylan Hughes scoring.
Westports third try was scored by Felix Zeray who broke from a solid Westport maul.
Jake Barrett playing superbly on the wing went off after a serious knock and was ably replaced by Killian Keane.
At the start of the second half Westport took their foot of the pedal and conceded a penalty try after a high tackle.
Westports fourth try deservedly came from the returning Matthew Mullaney who played with no fear.
2 more penalties were slotted over by Cian Silke as a reward for the outstanding Westport pack.
Carrick on Shannon finished out the scoring with a try on the wing.
Westport u16s prepare for the final under their Coach Chris Davies. It wll be played on 20th April, Easter Sunday.
