Six Westport RFC Players Line Out for Connacht U18s Against EIRA 🇮🇪🏉🇺🇸
A huge congratulations to Ruth Conway, Kitty Sweeney, Holly Horkan, Poppy Tunney Ware, Orla Palasz, and Ciara Sheridan, who represented Connacht U18 Girls yesterday in a competitive fixture against EIRA (Eagle Impact Rugby Academy) at Loughrea RFC.
EIRA is a US-based non-profit organization focused on developing young rugby talent from across America. Yesterday’s clash saw a fantastic standard of rugby on display!
In total, eight players from Westport’s current U18 squad were selected for the Connacht U18 Summer Program. Although Aoibhinn Lyons and Leah McNamara couldn’t play yesterday due to holidays, all eight will be part of the upcoming Interprovincial Series. A brilliant achievement for the players, their families, and everyone at Westport RFC.
📅 The team returns to action on July 30th in a friendly against Munster, with the Interpros kicking off on Sunday, August 10th at Virgin Media Park — again facing Munster.
Not to be outdone, four players from Westport’s current U16 squad have also been selected for the Connacht U16 Summer Program: Victori Palamarczuk, Olivia Tunney Ware, Millie Mullaney, Clara Kennedy, and Aoife Gannon. While they couldn’t play in yesterday’s match due to age eligibility (2011-born players were outside the 2009/2010 window), we’re excited to see them in action in upcoming friendlies.
Well done to all involved — we’re incredibly proud! 💚💪
